“Civic Horizons” is an EU-funded consortium comprising seven member organizations—Munathara, New Tactics, Fezzan Libya Organisation, Iraqi Al-Amal, AWO, Human Security Collective, and the Arab Institute for Human Rights—operating across Morocco, Tunisia, Libya, Iraq, Jordan, and Lebanon. Its overarching mission is to strengthen and sustain civic space by expanding support to civil society actors through innovative, human rights-based, and intersectional approaches. To achieve this, Civic Horizons mobilizes resources, generates actionable knowledge, and fosters networking among stakeholders—particularly youth, women, and marginalized groups—while promoting democracy, human rights, and fundamental freedoms through capacity-building, advocacy, community projects, and strategic engagement with decision-makers.
As one of the consortium’s principal members, the Munathara Initiative led the consortium's communication strategy and designed and launched the Civic Horizons Hub- a dynamic online platform that aggregates publications, activity updates, community stories, training opportunities, radio programs, and podcasts related to the consortium’s work. The platform serves as a regional connector for civil society practitioners.
Munathara also authored several key reports, including an Arabic-language publication on constructive, investigative, environmental, conflict-sensitive, and data journalism, as well as a “Rapid Organizational Assessments” report evaluating the capacities, strengths, and challenges of civil society organizations in six MENA countries. Additionally, it produced animated explainer videos on constructive and conflict-sensitive journalism and co-organized a multi-phase training series aimed at building a network of young journalists and advancing transparent public media across the MENA region.
