Opinion Makers

Launched in 2023, Opinion Makers is an initiative aimed at strengthening the debate culture in Tunisia and Lebanon by empowering young voices, aged 20 to 36, to become influential thought leaders. The project offers them a platform to critically address key national issues pertinent to their most imperative needs and concerns, ultimately shaping and enriching public discourse across the region.

Opinion Makers features weekly televised debate shows—Zaama in Tunisia and Shou Awlak in Lebanon—broadcast simultaneously across multiple channels. These programs give participants the opportunity to debate important public interest topics from diverse perspectives, alongside prominent politicians, analysts, and duty bearers, contributing to more inclusive national conversations. The initiative also includes Jeel el Jey, a web-only series offering a dynamic, informal space for dialogue on current social and political issues, often featuring popular YouTubers and influencers. Together, these programs seek to counter the often fragmented and polarized media narratives by fostering shared spaces for open, respectful, and solution-oriented dialogue.

To join the project, participants must complete a rigorous training program, developing essential skills in debate, leadership, public speaking, and research. They also receive support in developing their public image and strengthening their presence on social media, equipping them with the tools to become visible, credible voices in their communities and beyond. By investing in these young changemakers, Opinion Makers supports the emergence of a new generation of civic leaders capable of holding power to account and contributing meaningfully to democratic life in the region.
