Oumour Themmna Townhall

“Oumour Themmna Townhall” is the televised extension of The Munathara Initiative’s “Oumour Themmna” podcast and radio series, which features Tunisian youth commentators leading discussions on issues of both local and national significance. For the first time, participants moved from the airwaves to a live television format, where they engaged directly with decision-makers and experts on topics that matter most to Tunisia’s youth. In the premiere episode, aired on 18 February 2024, fourteen young individuals from across Tunisia participated in a thoughtful dialogue about the state of the nation’s youth institutions. The conversation featured key figures such as the Director-General at the Ministry of Youth and Sport, the Regional Delegate for Youth and Sports in Kebili, and a university professor of sociology. Together, they explored systemic challenges such as staff shortages, limited funding, and inconsistent government support. The second townhall, broadcast on 1 December 2024, focused on employment under the theme: “Employment: Youth’s Dream, Prospects, and Challenges.” Against the backdrop of high youth unemployment, ten participants engaged with former Employment Minister Fawzi Abdulrahman, MP Zafar al-Saghiri, social entrepreneur Taysir al-Shtiwi, and sociologist Jihad al-Haj Salem. The discussion highlighted the urgent demand for stable employment and examined both policy shortcomings and innovative solutions. Across both episodes, Oumour Themmna Townhall has established itself as a vital platform for emerging voices—enabling young people to engage directly with policymakers on pressing societal issues and to propose practical, forward-thinking solutions.
